The event will begin on Friday, June 2 with a Welcome Reception and Dinner where weFabio will honour an industry icon, the late Fabio Sementilli, and introduce a new award in his honour: the FAME award. Fabio’s Award for Mentoring and Education will be given out to deserving individuals who have dedicated their time to bettering the industry by mentoring and educating up and coming stylists and beauty professionals, something Fabio spent years of his life doing.

This evening will be followed by our Annual General Meeting on Saturday, June 3 where members will have the opportunity to hear about the next great initiatives the ABA is participating in and give their input to help strengthen the ABA’s impact on the beauty industry. Then, on Saturday night join us for the Chairman’s dinner and boat cruise where we will be accompanied by many of our past presidents and hosted by our current Chairman Aldo Gemmiti of WAHL Professional.

Saturday, June 3

9:00 am – 11:00 am Annual General Meeting
At this meeting the ABA will update all of the members in attendance on the financial statements, advisory council updates and upcoming events in addition to the latest initiatives we are taking part in. Some of these upcoming initiatives include the launch of ABA education, our brand new educational event BeautyEx and our partnership with Red Seal, College of Trades and Canadian Training Company (CTC) in an effort to standardize industry education and certification across Canada.

11:00 am – 12:00 pm Introduction to Afternoon Breakout Sessions
In this hour we will have special guest speakers (to be announced) educating our members on the latest licensing and regulatory changes, ABA’s partnership with the Red Seal program and the project that we have begun, standardizing education nationally PLUS we will inform members how they can participate in new ABA education as well as how to apply for training grants (up to $10,000 per employee) and wage subsidies of up to 80% per new hire.

12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Lunch

1:00 pm – 3:30 pm Industry Information Breakout Sessions
After lunch we will split the members into groups at random to discuss the initiatives discussed in the Intro to allow you the opportunity to ask questions and give your feedback and suggestions to ensure that the direction the ABA is taking is in line with the direction our members would like to see us heading. There will be lots of time for open discussion and we will take all of your feedback with us to refer to when building the partnerships and program going forward.

3:30 pm – 4:00 pm Membership Category Discussion
Following the breakouts, we will have an open discussion regarding “Manufacturer Membership for companies who are primarily Retail but have some Professional products” to hear your opinions on the pros and cons of allowing these types of memberships in order to grow the Association.
